Several pressure cookers sold in the U.S. have been the subject of CPSC recalls or warnings over burn hazards. They include Sensio's Bella, Bella Pro Series, Cooks and Crux cookers, Best Buy's Insignia cookers and the Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cooker. In February 2026, CPSC also issued a safety warning, not a recall, about Gourmia GPC625 cookers. Here is what each notice said, and how a recall differs from a warning.
Recall or warning: what is the difference?
A recall is a safety action, usually agreed to by the company, that offers consumers a remedy such as a refund, repair or replacement. A CPSC safety warning tells the public about a hazard CPSC has identified, often when the company has not agreed to a recall. Neither one, by itself, proves that a product caused a particular person's injury or that a company is legally responsible.

Crock-Pot Express (2020 recall)
About 914,430 Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers, model SCCPPC600-V1, were recalled in the U.S. CPSC said the cooker can pressurize when the lid is not fully locked, so the lid can suddenly come off during use. Sunbeam received 119 reports of the lid coming off, resulting in 99 burn injuries ranging from first-degree to third-degree. The remedy was a replacement lid. The model number and date code are engraved on a prong of the plug and on the bottom of the base.
Sensio: Bella, Bella Pro Series, Cooks and Crux (2023 recall)
About 860,000 electric and stovetop pressure cookers were recalled. CPSC said the lid can unlock and be removed during use, so hot contents can splash out. Sensio received 63 reports of incidents, including 61 burn injuries. Some involved second- and third-degree burns to the face, torso, arms and hands. The remedy was a refund. The model number is on a label or stamped on the bottom of the cooker.
Insignia (2023 recall)
About 930,000 Insignia multi-function pressure cookers were recalled, models NS-MC60SS8, NS-MC60SS9 and NS-MC80SS9, along with inner pots NS-MCRP6NS9 and NS-MCRP6SS9. CPSC said the inner pot had wrong volume markings. That can lead people to overfill the pot, so hot food and liquid can be pushed out when the cooker is quick-released or opened while pressurized. Best Buy received 31 reports of contents pushed out under pressure, including 17 reports of burn injuries. The remedy was a free replacement inner pot and floating locking valve.
Gourmia (2026 safety warning)
CPSC warned consumers to stop using about 43,500 Gourmia GPC625 cookers. CPSC said the lid can open while still pressurized, the float valve is hard to see and the inner pot has wrong volume markings. It reported five incidents and severe burn injuries in four. CPSC said the importer and Best Buy refused to agree to an acceptable recall, and it told consumers to stop using and dispose of the cookers.
These are not the only ones
This list is not complete. Other pressure cookers may have been recalled or linked to injuries. Search the CPSC recall database for your brand and model, and always read the notice itself for the full list of affected models and any updates.
If you were injured
Get medical care first. Then keep the cooker, the lid and every part, and do not repair, clean or take it apart. Save photos, receipts, medical records and messages with the company. Our pressure cooker explosion page explains what to keep and how a claim may work.
